Join CIDA for a drift diving trip to the outer reefs off Anacapa Island aboard the DV Triton dive boat
Anacapa Island has some exhilarating diving on some outer deeper reefs and pinnacles. Most are seldom dived and drift diving them is the best way to maximize your dive. This is good for photography, but even better for hunting. A surface marker buoy and knowing how to use it is required for this trip.
Our plan, depending on the weather is to drift dive some of the deeper outer reefs off Anacapa Island. These reefs are between 60'-120 ft but we will concentrate on ones more in the range of 60'-90'. The reefs we will dive can be very diverse and you just never know what you will see. Most boats seem to forget about some of these sites because they are out away from the island where currents can sometimes be an issue but on a good day when you can dive the outer reefs & pinnacles, you will be glad you did, especially when you can drift dive them.
This trip is best suited for
Advanced divers and above that have experience in cold water conditions including; current, swell, possible limited visibility and deep water. Most importantly, good buoyancy control is needed and surface signal tubes are always recommended.
